Golf For Women Shutting Down

The Editor of Golf For Women Magazine announced her new job today at “O” or “Oprah Magazine.” Conde Nast also let it be known to employees of “Golf For Women” that the current issue on newsstands will be the last.

My mom has been a subscriber to Golf For Women for several years and I occasionally paged through them. I always found the content to be good, but this is just further evidence of online competitors producing good content with no subscription, or for free.

My feelings are that only magazines and newspapers with the best content will see their paper publication survive. I hope Golf For Women continues as an online service, but it doesn’t look good right now for women golfers.

Frankly, I feel the loss of Golf For Women will leave a void a smaller company could find a niche in. Here is your chance, Golf Girls.

Checkitout: PGA Here I Come

PGA Here I Come is the blog a guy named Erik and his journey to scratch golf from a 22 Handicap. His goal is to make it to the PGA Tour via Q-School

which starts next fall.

To get there, Erik saved up a bit of money and traveled to Thailand where his dollar goes farther. His blog recaps what it is like living in Thailand and golfing on some of the ranges and courses.

Erik occasionally puts up video of his swing (which you should know by now I am a huge fan of). He is pretty open to anyone offering tips.

I like this blog because I enjoy reading about the adventure Erik is on. At the end of it, even if the tour doesn’t work out he’ll have traveled the world, lived a year of his life doing something really fun, and his golf game is sure to improve. Good luck, Erik.

Here is Erik’s latest swing, give him some tips:
